Browser extension
If you read Telegram in your browser, the extension removes the copy-and-paste step: a download button appears directly on posts inside Telegram Web.
What it does
The extension watches for media posts while you browse Telegram Web and places a small download control on each one. Clicking it runs the same process as the web tool, the post link goes out, a direct link comes back, but without you having to leave the page or handle the URL yourself.
Install it
The Chrome build is going through review. Until it is published, the web tool does exactly the same job in any browser.
Permissions, and why they are needed
- Access to web.telegram.org, required to place the button on the page. The extension does nothing at all on any other site.
- No access to your messages. It reads the post link of media you explicitly click. It does not scan your chats, your contacts, or your account.
- No analytics inside the extension. Nothing is reported back about what you download.
Limitations
The same rules as the web tool apply. Public channels only; private content and channels with saving restricted cannot be handled, for the reasons explained on the home page. It also works only in Telegram Web, the desktop and mobile apps do not accept extensions.
Something wrong?
Telegram Web changes its interface fairly often, which occasionally breaks the button placement. If you notice it missing, let us know and we will push a fix.
